The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced it has a solution for improving its coordination of nationwide disaster response efforts: a real-time information-sharing system based on commercial software. FEMA said it intends to make its new Emergency Management Information Management System (EMIMS) a single repository for disaster information. It will give emergency response leaders a wide-angle view of what is happening during a national crisis. EMIMS is based on SSI’s Knowledge Center software.

Pennsylvania's Northwest Central and Northwest Emergency Response Groups Select the Knowledge Center® for Incident and Event Management

The Northwest Central and Northwest Regions include 11 counties in western Pennsylvania covering 8,500 square miles, a population of 700,000 people, and 316 local municipalities. These Regions join the 13 county Southwest Emergency Response Group, Region 13 on the Knowledge Center to bring the entire Western Area of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) under one common incident management platform.

Pennsylvania's southwest emergency response group - Region 13 selects the 'Knowledge Center®' for incident and event management. Using an open-standards software framework, the 'Knowledge Center®' will provide emergency managers with tools for decision support, information management, analysis, and communications in an integrated web portal environment. Region 13, a regional anti-terrorism consortium that includes Pittsburgh and 13 neighboring counties chose SSI Services after an exhaustive national search. Region 13 cited key features such as: ease of use, ease of training, and ease of future integration as critical discriminators in their selection process.
